GET THE WORD OUT
Once you go to your local veterans post and meet with them, if they consent to be a collection site, now you need to let the people in the town know that the post is collecting veteran's histories.
Our suggestion is that they put an article in their local newspaper explaining that you want people to mail or bring their histories to the following address. Make sure that you tell them to make the cover sheet and explain to them what needs to be included to the best of their ability.
Another suggestion is that the post could host an event which invites people in the town to bring their histories.
You could check the cover pages at this time. Minimal information required on the cover sheet is the veteran's name and the war.Prior to submission of your history to the specified collection point address please know that we list these in good faith. For whatever reason an address might not work. And for that reason we recommend that you verify the address and post as legitimate and accurate.
If you read this article you can bring it to the attention of your local veteran's post who can follow it up.
